Matilda Bay Frontage (Stirling Hwy) with proposed new Development Superimposed

The Matilda Bay Brewery & the OneSteel sites lie either side of the entrance to McCabe Street at Stirling Highway. The developments being proposed will draw a huge amount of new traffic into McCabe Street and consequently the intersection.

In late 2022, Rocky Bay Inc. advised the community that they intended to move out of Mosman Park and would build a new headquarters in Belmont. To fund the new buildings required by this move the majority of their landholding in Mosman Park is to be sold to developers at the best price available. There are many planning hurdles to be jumped before this proposal is nailed down and the MPRRA is following the process closely.

Memorial Hall / Camelot is probably Mosman Park's best-known building. It has extensive maintenance problems and is the subject of noise complaints from neighbours. Is it time for renewal?

  • The three Railway Crossings at Jarrad Street, Salvado Street and Victoria Street have been well documented as hazardous intersections and ones that have not been improved by the recent installation of the bicycle track. Various solutions have been proposed, ranging from an underpass at Wellington Street to the sinking of the railway from Grant Street to North Fremantle. A solution needs to be addressed urgently.

  • The development of the Wellington Heights / IGA site has been approved by the WAPC, however there are still some hurdles to jump. We will be watching progress closely in order to add pressure for the best outcome for the community wherever possible.

  • Some twenty plus years ago the Town's northern section had power placed underground. Since then, the Town's administrations have been agitating for funding to allow underground power to be installed in the southern section. The latest timescale proposed indicates that may not happen until the early 2030's!

  • The State's Planning system has been largely destroyed by overzealous governments listening extensively to developers, who only have one thing on their minds. We would like to see the resumption of a more orderly, predictable and respectful planning system that listens to all parties and produces a better city.
